MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE PROGRAM

Having fresh eyes on your manuscript is useful, especially when it's from experienced fellow writers and editors. SDWEG members get the opportujity to draw on that expertise for a nominal extra fee.


MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

Get caught up on the latest news of the Guild through The Guilded Newsletter, which includes upcoming events, members' recent book publications and awards, and much more.

Access to the newsletter is limited to logged-in members. 


ANTHOLOGY SUBMISSIONS

A compilation of themed, imaginative short stories, poems, and essays written by SDWEG members has been published annually since 2012. All members are invited to submit writings for consideration. Selected members are invited to read at the launch of the anthology.


MONTHLY MEETINGS AND PRESENTATIONS

Learn valuable information about the art of writing, editing, publishing, marketing, and much more (no charge for members, nominal charge for guests). Most presentations are hosted on Zoom with occasional in-person meetings each year.



AUTHOR MARKETING SUPPORT GROUP

Selling your book presents plenty of challenges and SDWEG will help you along the way, including with ouro monthly author marketing support group followed by Q&A and discussion.


WORKSHOPS

The Guild offers opportunities to delve deeper with greater participation in interactive workshops from writing and editing experts. Be prepared to share your work or do some writing in the workshops. Nonmembers pay the cost of membership to take part and become a member of the Guild.

TO OUR MEMBERS


SDWEG board member and author Richard L. Carrico’s newest nonfiction book, El Presidio de San Diego: Excavating Southern California's Lost City, was released on October 21. Richard tells the story of Spain's first settlement in Alta (Upper) California, founded in 1769.  Richard brings to life the men, women, and children of frontier San Diego. The official book launch will take place November 13, 6:00-7:30 p.m., at the San Diego History Center, Balboa Park, 1649 El Prado. Richard also has several book signings and presentations coming up this month:

  • November 14, 3:30 p.m., Julian Library, 1850 Highway 78, Julian, CA
  • November 15, 10:30 a.m., San Diego Archaeological Center, 16666  San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA
  • November 20, 7:00 p.m., Ocean Beach Historical Society, Water’s Edge Community Center, 1984 Sunset Cliffs Boulevard

Operation Masquerade, by award-winning author and Pulitzer Prize nominee Larry M. Edwards, releases this fall. In Operation Masquerade, the second in the Rent Beacham Mystery series, a cold-case homicide leads journalist Beacham into an investigation of suspected corruption, involving geothermal energy, lithium extraction, hazardous waste disposal, and the murky depths of AI avatars and deepfakes.

Patricia Daly-Lipe's newly published book, All Alone, Washington to Rome, is featured in the "In the Spotlight" section of the National League of Pen Women's publication, The Pen Woman, fall 2025 edition. All Alone, a revised edition of Patricia's memoir, is published by Xlibris and is her twelfth book. The Pen Woman states: "All Alone is an honest and thought-provoking look into the past that offers all who read it a better understanding of themselves."
