Jane Muschenetz, with her poem, "Every Poem is Political," has been named the first-place winner of the inaugural War Poetry Postcard Project. The purpose of this literary arts experiment is to promote empathy and conversation on the effects of war and violence. The Middle West Press and Collateral Journal co-sponsored the contest. Organizers and editors called for new and reprint postcard-sized poems that thematically engaged with the effects of armed conflict, state violence, and military service. |
